The Study Lounge and Law Firm Owner Meet to Better Develop Their Community Connections

Study Lounge Owner and Law Firm Owner Meet to Develop Better Community Connections

On July 8th, 2024, Founding Attorney Douglas G. Jackson had the opportunity to share lunch with Jeff Velazquez, owner of the Study Lounge.  They met to develop and better their community connections as fellow members of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce.  They enjoyed lunch at Chamber Member, Harvey’s 4th Street Grill, to build even greater business support.

During lunch, among other meetings, Doug had the opportunity to learn more about the Study Lounge. The Study Lounge offers a unique pour-your-own wine and beer experience in Kenwood. Most taps are dedicated to wine, but six beers are also on tap, with additional beer options available in cans and bottles. The wine selection includes a variety of international wines, with some taps featuring high-end options.

At The Study Lounge, customers open an account at the register, receive a card, and use it to select their pour size from the machine. Available sizes are a taste (one ounce), half a glass (three ounces), and a full glass (six ounces). This system allows patrons to enjoy their drinks without waiting on a server.

Jeff Velazquez aims to offer lower prices than competitors, addressing the issue of high costs in downtown St. Pete. With 36 wines on tap, the average cost will be around $11. His inspiration comes from his experiences with promotions in bars and nightclubs, where cheap beer was offered. He wants to eliminate the “snootiness” in the wine and craft beer market, providing a friendly, comfortable environment.

The Study Lounge can seat 30-40 people comfortably with seating options at the bar, booths, and lounges. The ambiance will features music like Frank Sinatra or Miles Davis during the day, creating a soft, intimate atmosphere. The lounge is open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Happy hour specials include $2 off charcuterie plates and full glasses of wine between 2 and 6 p.m. Wine tastings may be held on Saturdays, and bottomless mimosas will be available on Sundays for $25, with various mixers to choose from. Velazquez plans to host special events like wine and food pairings and “paint and sip” sessions.

Jeff Velazquez’s vision for The Study Lounge is to create a welcoming space where people can enjoy high-quality wine and beer at reasonable prices, fostering a sense of community in Kenwood. Visit The Study Lounge to experience this unique and friendly environment.

It’s a little off the beaten path, on 3rd Ave N., and 31st Street S., in beautiful Historic Kenwood.  This makes it for even a more intimate setting because it’s not in the heart of the downtown.

“There is nothing better than making friends and building connections,” according to Attorney Jackson, who also serves Chair of the Ambassadors for the Chamber.  Jackson also said:

“Jeff is a really fascinating guy.  He’s an inspiration.  He’s served in the Marines, been a firefighter, and now, he is an entrepreneur, helping to build his community.”

The Study Lounge is a place that helps to bring people together to build the St. Petersburg community, which The Law Firm of Douglas G. Jackson feels compelled to support because it’s so similar to our mission.
