Profit Power: What Every Small Business Should Know About Financials, Taxes, and Growth

Understanding your numbers is one of the most important parts of running a successful business, yet it is often one of the most overlooked.

At our upcoming Business Education Network Workshop, we are bringing in Patricia Clynes, Chief Financial Officer of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, to break down financial concepts in a way that is practical, clear, and immediately useful.

This session, “Profit Power: What Every Small Business Should Know About Financials, Taxes, and Growth,” is designed for business owners who want real clarity and control over their financials without unnecessary complexity.

Why This Workshop Matters

Many business owners operate without fully understanding their financial statements or how to measure performance. This can lead to missed opportunities, poor planning, and unnecessary risk.

This workshop focuses on giving you the tools to:

  • Understand where your business stands financially
  • Make informed decisions based on real data
  • Improve profitability and manage cash flow more effectively

What You Will Learn

Patricia will provide a practical, plain English walkthrough of the three core financial statements and how they work together:

  • Profit and Loss Statement (P&L)
  • Balance Sheet
  • Cash Flow Statement

You will also learn how to:

  • Calculate and interpret EBITDA as a quick performance indicator
  • Identify practical tax planning opportunities to maximize after-tax profit
  • Build year-round habits that strengthen financial stability

Attendees will walk away with a simple diagnostic, a 30/60/90 day action plan, and a curated list of free and low-cost resources to continue improving their financial systems.
