Community Heroes & Local Industry Legends: Honoring Those Who Shape Our Community
Too often, we look for role models in the wrong places.
We look nationally or globally — toward celebrities, athletes, and public figures — and miss the individuals quietly shaping our communities every single day. The truth is the people we should admire most are often much closer than we realize.
Our local community is filled with heroes and legends hidden in plain sight.
Through our Community Heroes and Local Industry Legends series, we are committed to shining a light on the individual’s right here in our own backyard who give us reason to be proud of where we live and work. These are the people whose leadership, integrity, and dedication create a lasting impact — not for recognition, but because it is who they are.
Local Industry Legends
Local Industry Legends are not businesses. They are people.
They are business owners whose vision, resilience, and commitment help shape our local economy and strengthen our community. Their success is measured not only by what they have built, but by how they lead, how they serve others, and how they show up every day.
Today’s Local Industry Legend: Luke Reiner
Luke Reiner’s path to business ownership did not begin with a traditional plan. After attending Colorado State University, Luke originally thought he would pursue a career as a pilot. That path shifted when he completed an internship and began working with Lime Painting — an experience that quickly turned into a passion.
Luke spent years learning the business from the inside, training other franchise operators and gaining hands-on experience across residential and commercial projects. When the opportunity arose to open a Lime Painting franchise in St. Petersburg, the transition felt natural.
He truly started from the ground up. In the early days, Luke was knocking on doors, hanging flyers, sending mailers, and building relationships face to face. Today, while he remains the sole owner and operator, he manages four dedicated crews and continues to be closely involved in every project.
Luke’s work spans high-end residential and commercial projects, including interior and exterior painting, surface restoration, wallpaper, and new construction. He is especially passionate about helping private owners and builders bring their vision to life — a hands-on, collaborative approach that sets his work apart.
This year, Luke was named Lime Painting Franchise Owner Operator of the Year, an honor that reflects both his results and his leadership. He is also the youngest owner in the Lime Painting system, a testament to his drive, discipline, and commitment.
Beyond the job site, Luke is actively involved in the community through the St. Pete Chamber of Commerce and BNI Nexus, Outside of work, he enjoys boating and fishing and spending time outdoors with his mountain dog, Maverick. An extrovert by nature, Luke values personal connections and believes relationships are the foundation of any successful business.
Luke Reiner represents what it means to be a Local Industry Legend — building a legacy rooted in craftsmanship, hard work, and community.
We are proud to recognize Luke as part of our Community Heroes and Local Industry Legends series and grateful for the example he sets for our local business community.
