At the upcoming Business Education Network (BEN) Workshop, we’re honored to welcome a truly remarkable speaker: Gary King — author, speaker, entrepreneur, and creator of The Happiness Experiment.
Gary’s story is nothing short of profound. In 2012, he faced an unimaginable loss when his only child, Jason King, ended his life by jumping off the Sunshine Skyway. In the wake of this heartbreak, Gary turned to resilience and hope. In 2019, he began placing Happiness signs around St. Petersburg, Florida — a personal tribute to Jason and a mission to inspire others. To date, he has put up over 600 signs, spreading messages of positivity across the city.
One of those signs reached a woman named Delaney, who, feeling overwhelmed and depressed, was on her way to the Skyway to end her life. Seeing one of Gary’s signs, she remembered his story and turned her car around. A year later, she met Gary, sharing how his simple sign had saved her.
Gary’s journey has captured the hearts of the local community, with his story featured on ABC, Bay News 9, and even Tampa Bay Times. His impact continues to ripple outward, inspiring others to find hope and healing through his work.
