Hello, I’m Douglas G. Jackson, founding attorney of The Law Firm of Douglas G. Jackson. Today, I want to talk to you about starting a business here in Florida.

Because my law firm is about protecting you and promoting the American dream, it makes sense to talk about starting a business. Starting your own business exemplifies the American dream. That’s why this is the first video in our business series that we will be creating.

The business series is intended to help you at every stage in your business: from when you’re working for someone else and only dreaming about starting a business to when you’re buying your own commercial office space because you’ve made it big.

With stagnating wages and increasing costs, there is no better time to start a business then now. In fact, starting your own business is exemplary of the American dream. Being self-employed is one of the only ways to become truly rich.

In fact, according to the IRS Statistics of Income Division, of the 400 Individual Tax Returns Reporting the Largest Adjusted Gross Incomes each year between 1992-2009, the two most important factors were capital gains and partnerships and corporations. In terms of income generation (versus capital gains growth) the income from partnerships and corporations was higher than dividends, and even their salaries. That means the richest people didn’t make their money from working for someone else, they made it by building their own businesses. You can do this, too, and this series intends to teach you how to do it and be successful…. giving you the tools that other educational programs won’t give you.

There are many reasons why Florida is a great place to start a business. The state has favorable laws for businesses, a strong economy, and a skilled workforce.

Florida is one of the most business-friendly states in the country. The state has no personal income tax and low property taxes. This makes it an attractive place for businesses to relocate or expand.

Florida is also home to a skilled workforce. The state has a large population of college-educated adults. This makes it easier for businesses to find the talent they need to grow and succeed.

Based on the benefits that Florida has for starting a business, it’s no surprise that a 2022 study published by Real Estate Witch found that Orlando, Miami, Tampa, and Jacksonville were among the top 15 places to start a business in over 50 U.S. metro areas. This is likely due to favorable laws for businesses in Florida.

Overall, Florida is an ideal place to start a business. The state has a favorable business climate, a strong economy, and a skilled workforce. If you are thinking about starting a business, Florida should be at the top of your list.

In the future, we’ll be discussing more about the tools to get your business started and growing.
