Lawsuits possible after fatal Florida car crash

On Behalf of | Feb 18, 2021 | Personal Injury |

Distraction, lack of focus, inexperience and other factors can easily contribute to a car accident. Even if a person only takes his or her eyes off the road momentarily, it is enough time for a hazard to come upon that driver that he or she cannot easily avoid. Unfortunately, a car crash can quickly have irreversible outcomes.

It was recently reported that an accident in Florida claimed the life of one person. Before the crash, two vehicles had come to a stop at a red traffic light. A third vehicle was approaching the light, but the driver did not slow down soon enough. As a result, the third vehicle collided with the two stopped vehicles. That vehicle then traveled over the median and struck a fourth vehicle before coming to a stop.

It was unclear how many people were involved in the incident. The following information was available for the parties involved:

  • The driver of the third vehicle was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
  • A passenger in the third vehicle was also transported to the hospital, and that person later succumbed to injuries suffered in the crash.
  • It was not mentioned whether any other parties involved suffered injuries or whether they were taken to the hospital.

The driver considered at fault for this Florida car crash could face criminal charges, depending on the findings of the investigation, and could face civil lawsuits from the family of the deceased victim and any other parties seriously injured in the incident. Filing wrongful death or personal injury claims could allow those who were negatively affected to pursue compensation for allowable damages. These cases can be complex, but exercising legal rights and options in such a situation could help offset many difficult repercussions of the incident, particularly those of a financial nature.
