About Daniel Smith

Dan Smith joined the Law Firm of Douglas G. Jackson as an associate attorney in January 2024. Before joining the firm, Dan spent many years working at a law firm that focused on obtaining VA benefits for veterans and their families. More recently, he worked for a law firm that focused on real property transactions and litigation and estate planning.

Biography

Dan graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 2008. At Stetson, he earned the highest grade in his Research and Writing class, and he was a member of the Law Review. He also spent a semester working as a judicial intern for a federal judge at the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. After law school, Dan relocated to Washington DC, and served in a prestigious position as a law clerk to a federal judge at the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Growing up, Dan had a passion for writing, and this led him to the University of Missouri where he obtained a Bachelor of Journalism. While at Missouri, he worked as a sportswriter and copy editor for a local newspaper. He is an accomplished runner, having completed numerous marathons. He lives in St. Petersburg with his wife and son.
